Much of Razi's life is unknown to Him. He knows not where He was born or who His parents might be. Instead of distant memories, all He sees are figments of images, mazes of dreams, and distortions that interrupt His sleep, and He knows not with positivity what dream or vision is real and what is imagination.
This much Razi does know, as was told to Him by Bremen, the High Initiate from the City of Tharna: Bremen and His associates were traveling on a road along the Vosk River when they came upon a bloody camp where a vicious battle had obviously taken place. Battered, dead bodies were strewn here and there and Razi's body was found among the dead. They assumed that Razi was also dead, until one Healer found a weak pulse still beating within Him. After checking to see if there were any other survivors, they loaded Razi into a wagon and quickly dispersed from the cursed site. Before returning directly to Tharna, the troop stopped at a nearby Temple to tend to Razi's wounds, which were extensive. Several deep cuts and bruises covered His body, but most worrisome to the Healer was the gash at the back of Razi's head. Bremen's personal Healer tended to the wounds, although Razi slept through several moons, never gaining a conscious state during that time. Then finally, on a day like any other, Razi's eyes opened, yet His mind remained shut. He could remember nothing, not even His name. After a day or two of conscious recovery, Bremen sat beside Razi and told Him how He was found. The Initiate also said that emissaries were sent to the neighboring towns, to see if anyone knew about Razi or where He came from, but little was found out. Apparently, Razi was traveling with two female companions, probably His slaves because they bore His mark. They were also found among the dead. The camp had been ransacked, anything of value was gone. It’s assumed that a random band of thieves from Port Kar raided the threesome, but the thieves obviously got more than they bargained for since ten of their party ended up dead during the bloody battle that ensued. After listening intently, Razi still remembered none of this. Then the reality of His situation hit Him. He owned nothing. Not even a single memory that would have shaped His life. The only object that He now possessed was the chain that hung around His neck bearing His name. Health returned to Razi quickly and soon He felt well enough to learn about basic things that normal people take for granted, but He had forgotten. The Initiates taught Him as best They could, but Razi still felt empty inside. Late at night, dreams would invade His sleep and sometimes He would suffer headaches from the healed wound at the back of His head. Occasionally, the dreams would wake Him and He could remember their vivid details, but He did not understand their meanings. One day, He saw a stranger walking outside the city gates, a man He never saw before, but the same man He saw in a dream from the previous night. Razi felt compelled to tell Bremen about His dream and ran to the High Initiate’s Home inside the city. Bremen listened carefully and then sent an assistant to go look for the stranger, but it was too late. Apparently in an act of blind vengeance, the stranger had stabbed one of the Gate Keepers, and in turn was killed by a City Guard. When Razi and Bremen ran outside, the scene matched Razi's dream perfectly. He'd seen the entire sequence unfold the night before, just like the Guard described to Him. From that day on, Razi was more cautious and aware about His premonitions and when they matched His surroundings. Soon after, Razi worked for the Initiates and was paid very well for His services. He performed a variety of tasks, including some unsavory, but Razi didn’t mind. His visions, dreams, and perceptions were very helpful in completing His tasks and He eventually became more trusting of His dreams. He enjoyed His time outside the city gates while on His brief adventures, but grew bored of city life and was lonely. At night, he would dream more vividly than ever before. He could see plains of grass as far as the eye could see and countless bosk. He also saw colorful wagons and even saw Himself sitting on a wagon, looking content. Razi asked Bremen about His dreams and the High Initiate told Him that He was dreaming about the Plains of the Wagon Peoples, the Mighty Tuchuk. Razi determined that it was His destiny to travel to that Land and make a Home there. After a long journey, Razi now stands before You. Standing at six even feet, with long brown hair mingled with hints of grey, He's a paradox of a Man, sometimes able to see the future but knowing not of the past. But He gladly offers His talent, His service, and His life if need be, to His Ubar, Ubara, Brothers, Sisters, and camp kajirae. |
