I stand six feet 3 inches, with a strong build, brown eyes, brown hair and a gouteed face lined from long experience. I am from the small copper mining town of Rarn, which lies southeast of Tharna. My father was the Master Gemsmith Marin Thomsen and I was apprenticed under Him. I worked learning my craft for 15 years and have been a Master for the last five. The town of Rarn being small, there was not enough demand for Gemsmith services for the both of Us I left Rarn. I decided that travelling the world was best and so I have wandered for years as part of one merchant caravan or another displaying My wares or taking commission to craft a piece worthy of My skills.
I have finally decided to seek a place to call a true "Home". I observed, I listened, I enquired as to both Cities and Camps. I felt the wagon people would provide the true test of Me. The Paravaci did not interest Me... I have no need of their "riches", The Kataii nor the Kassars similarly were not to My taste. The Tuchuks known for Their wiles, the standard of four bosk horns and Their black shields. Honor and Pride flow from Them as a physical presence. I felt These people would be a place to call "Home". Knowing the Tuchuks prize courage and prowess in weaponry, I can tell all that after achieving Journeyman level and earning My own coin, I paid handsomely to be trained in fighting, and learning to be proficient with the bow. As such I am deadly with the horn bow and have also taken a liking to the bola. I paid as well for training in riding and I ride the kaiila proficiently enough so as to ride with Oralu, Orlu, Or. I bring to the camp the Mastery of Gemsmith. My father encouraged me to use my creativity to make each piece a work of art. Gem cutting and preparation for setting was the primary skill taught. I have extensive knowledge of metals, gemstones, and crystal, as well as knowledge in the properties of leather, wood, glass, and cloth. I learned to carefully examine a raw piece for its possibilities and applications, to patiently cut in exactly the right place. My skills can ensure the Camp can trade and bring in enough of value to more than earn My place as a member of Camp. I also bring with Me the knowledge of the written word. I know Wagon People do not trust important matters to paper because paper can be too easily destroyed and thus there are many in Camp that cannot read, I believe the Camp would still have use of One who can read for when it needs to have contact with the city vermin. I have wandered until I came upon the Camp of Harriga and was not slain on the spot. After observing its customs and ways I now stand ready to pledge My sword to the Camp and its Standard of the four bosk horns and will use it until I draw My last breath defending this Camp and its Peoples. I would like to purchase a wagon and kaiila and seek knowledge from those of the scribe cast. I may seek a slave, for the use of one in both My work and pleasure but I am in no hurry and for now Camp kajirae will meet My modest needs. |
